A journey into the past

Built in 1936, the versatile Black Forest Museum in Triberg, shows the past and present cultural and economic life of the Black Forest people. It exhibits Black forest clocks over four centuries, Black Forest traditional costumes, wood carvings, straw weaving and old trade workshops such an original clockmaker’s.

Particularly worth seeing are the unique automated music boxes, an original village band, mining shafts with their rare minerals and a landscaped model train exhibition of the Black Forest railway.  An area is dedicated to winter sports, showing bobsleighs and toboggans and the world’s first electric Ski lift. with the first electric ski lift. There is also a barrel organ collection which is one of the largest in Europe.

On more than 1,600 sqm you can find:

Monday - Friday: 11:00am - 5:00pm, last admission at 4:30pm (all year)

Saturday, Sunday & Friday: 11:00am - 6:00pm, last admission at 5:30pm (till the 10th of Septmber 2023)

Due to the current Covid-19 regulations, we would like to point out that masks are compulsory within the Black Forest Museum! A proof of a full vaccination, a recovery Certificate or a negative test is required for admittance.

Entrance fees

As part of the Triberg Inclusive Card, entry to "Triberg-Land - with interactive model construction facilities" and entry to the Black Forest Museum and the Instagram Museum "Triberg-Fantasy - Simply Beautiful Photos" are free on presentation of a valid waterfall entry ticket!
